UnderWorld Mutagen 7- The End

Hello and welcome to the 7th and final installment of UnderWorld mutagen! Well nothing else to say but the OverWorlders are probably going to be sometime next week.

AD: 65 > 20
E: 65 > 20
ET: 2 > 1
MC: 0 = 0

Darn another evolution that went to a new style of game play while staying good. Both Stelgars are useful in their own ways, however Stelgar can fight right from the get go but stelgar VM must hide from attacks for at least 4 turns before he can battle. This means that you must have a good defense around him and he will more often then not be the focus of your deck (i think Hunterhawk made one). To finish this off both Stelgars will require some planning to use, but the difference is that while you have to figure out how to keep Stelgars power below 125 you have to figure out how to protect VM until he becomes powerful (on an offhand not VM and Kiru would be pretty powerful if you could swing it). To Close To Call

C: 60 > 50
P: 65 < 90
W: 20 < 40

ET: 0 < 2
MC: 1 = 1

Quite possibly my absolute favorite UnderWorld creature remake! The reasons for this are as follows\
1) No reck!
2) Mugic Counter!
3) High power and the two UnderWorld elements
4) And last but not least non-invisibility Strike 10 and the ability to Strike ten again!
I suppose i should mention the other one i guess it wasn't a total failure but with that low energy no elements and highest discipline being speed...i don't know. Maybe Fire and energy up to at least 50 to make it worth Sacing another creature. Evolution

Ahhh Ulmar a staple in most DOP decks because of his ability. Him and chaor with 2 Canons could blow most weak Mugic Casters out of the game. Moving on to WS Ulmar, he's not that bad ability wise but the problem is he is to focused on M'arrillians meaning using him against any other tribe is useless Maybe if he had 1 or 2 MCs he'd be more useful. Gotta like his second ability though. Ulmar PR is just great with an almost guaranteed 10 damage per turn and a Mugic counter what's to hate? Ulmar PR wins this because of the unlimited ammo, the fact that one Mugic won't kill him and his MC.

And that's the end of number 7

UnderWorld Mutagen 6

Welcome to the second too last underworld Evolution article! Before we get started i was looking around on the web and discovered that The blog Perim Lands has done something very similar to this! I just want to say that i had no clue that the other one even existed when i started this (oh well to quote: "there are no original ideas there are only original people" -Barbara Grizzuti Harrison). Anyway let us press on!

C 75 > 60
P 90 < 100
W 25 < 50
S 50 < 60
E 70 = 70
MC 0 = 0
ET 1 < 3

If you don't know who is going to win this one please go have your head examined! Obviously it's going to be the OLD Rothar (JOKE if you believe this i laugh at you)! All joking aside the New Rothar has three elements high power (to make up for the intimidate loss i think) and three elements (wait did i say that already). Also the normal recklessness has been replaced by a sorta 'real' recklessness making it very easy to see his roots. As some overkill his card art is awesome. I would call this an example of a perfect Evolution

C 65 < 70
P 25 < 75
W 65 > 40
S 40 < 70
E 35 = 35
MC 1 < 2
ET 1 < 2

Skithia was originaly one of my favorite cards (This was DOP and before i saw Chaor) just because of the Fire 5 but now shes not that great compared to other fire five weilding UWers. GS Version has two elements which is always nice and her ability could be fairly useful against a multible element army because she'd be almost garunteed to get at least 5 damage but it won't work very well against Stat decks however because gothos spy is more usful now (which is the whole point of evolving isint it?) Evolution.

C 45 > 40
P 55 < 60
W 65 > 35
S 20 < 30
E 40 > 30
MC 1 = 1
ET 1 = 1

Slufurahs incarnations are both good in their own ways with Slufurah allowing you to 'recycle' your used up muges for some extra damage making him helpful for larger armies only. Slufurah TT allows you to gain mastery over the fire element at the cost of your gear (this ability of course makes him work well with the destrutazooka). Anyway as with Nivenna both of these cards are good for certian decks but with TT allowing your creatures to live i'm going to call it an Evolution.

Next up are Takinom, Stelgar and Lastly Ulmar

UnderWorld Mutagen 5

The series continues! I think i should say at the beginning of this that everything here is my opinion, mine, all mine, my precioussssssss...*smacks self* Sorry about that! Let's begin!
C 70 - 80 - 65

P 80 - 100 - 50
W 40 - 40 - 60
S 55 - 65 - 55
E 60 - 60 - 60
MC 1 - 0 - 2
ET 1 - 0 - 2

Nauthalax. In my opinion he was one of the worst (if not the worst) DOP underworlders for the following reasons:
1) Water?! Water!? What the heck? That put him so far out of sync with his tribe. You had to put him with a different tribe (at that time over
worlders) to be able to use more then torrent of flame and steam rage with him. Even now their is only 7 water using underworlders (one of which is a M'arrillian).
2) Recklessness normal underworld ability yes but when he needs a pyroblaster to run with his own tribe he can't boost his energy!
Anyway with all of the new gear he can be used ( *cough* Elementalist Pauldrons *cough* but in my opinion he still sucks at least he has an (MC) (saving grace in my opinion)
Nauthalax T (Normal): In three out of four disciplines he has the highest of these 3 cards- at first then he burns it all up with exhaust AD5 however unlike his predecessor if he can win a power challenge he gets any element you feel like making him very durable in my opinion. However you should give him Khybon's Mech-blade for the extra power to make a few power attacks before
he exhausts his power (make four successful Power attacks and he's a weaker Heptadd!) His BWd ability is also nice for M'arrillians although no elements is bad at least he keeps his high disiplines. Okay better move on now.
Nauthalax AS: This card despite being so very sim
ilar to his DOP self is better for 3 reasons: Wisdom, Mugical ability and elements. He is awesome in most mixed decks because of his MCs and Elementalist Pauldrons will make him good in an underworld deck as well (him and magmon with Elementalist Pauldrons in a 3v3... ohh deck idea!).
So which is better ASs auto two elements (with
2 MCs) Or Ts easy 4 element gain? I can't really
say for sure.
C 40 - 45
P 50 - 50
W 90 - 80
S 60 - 60
E 30 - 35
MC 3 - 3
ET 0 - 0
Okay this is hard not only are their stats almost identical but they are for totally different styles of play Nivenna ROTO for underworld elementilist decks and UL for a unity deck and teaming up with her sister. They are at once way to similar and different for me to judge who's better.
C 65 - 30
P 80 - 90
W 30 - 20
S 60 - 65
E 50 - 50
MC 0 - 0
ET 1 - 1
These two scans are once again very close in disciplines (with the exception of courage) however they have abilities which link to each other but are all different so that's going to be a decioding factor first off DOP Rarran had range but no swift which made the windstrider battlegear ideal for him. He was a good jumper for the underworld with the fire element and fairly decent stats. Rarran tainted has swift 3 but no range which makes him perfect with the Skeletal Steed allowing him to hit all over the board it's like Ere with no recklessness! His brainwashed ability is a great anti range as you can be anywhere on the battleboard and still stop creatures with range. With this in mind and seeing as Rarran T with a Skeletal Steed has swift 4 and range i like RT better but it just depends what you can get your hands on because both are pretty good with the right gear.

*Whew* six more UnderWorlders To Go! Maybe only two more articles!

UnderWorld Mutagen 4

Continuing...
C 75 - 55 - 30
P 60 - 65 - 75
W 20 - 15 -20
S 35 - 30 - 45
E 55 - 70 - 55
MC - 1 - 0 - 0
ET - 1 - 2 - 1
Magmon during his time one of the best DOP cards when everyone abused his fire five and lava pond bonus. Stat-wise the cards evolved pretty well with their stats remaining fairly even. One funny thing i noticed is that his courage drops while his power increases. Elementwise he consistently possesses fire (duh) and his Retaliator form has earth as well. he losses his mugic counter early on unfortunally but that is a common UW flaw. His abilities all reach back to his old self of course (Magmon R deals 5 damage to m'arrillians or minions [or non-M&Ms] and Magmon E gives all other fire warriors his old abilities) With his old self being a great elementilist his R self having a whole ton of energy and his new self boosting everyone i honastly can't call this one confidently but i have to go with Magmon R just because of his Earth his energy and the fact unlike Magmon E he won't give recklessness to others.

Short one today.

UnderWorld Mutagen 3

Okay long overdue 3rd installment of UnderWorld Mutagen! Before we start i'd like to say that just because i say one card is better then another does not mean i think the other one sucks (unless i explicitly say so). That said let's rumble!

C 30 = 30
P 15 < 70
W 50 < 70
S 20 < 40
E 20 < 30
MC 3 > 2
ET 0 < 1
Just from looking at these compairisons i think it's obvious whose going to get this win. I mean come on AU Kopond beats SS Kopond in nearly every possible way except for mugic counters (and let's face it if AU Kopond had 3 MCs he'd be waaay to powerful). I'm not saying that SS kopond is bad just that i would much rather have someone who can fire a canon of causulty for 30D for 1 mc or Improvisional melody for 20d at the cost of 0 then some one who can deal 30 damage with his ability even if he has one MC left. Anyway in my opinion this is a clear evolution.

C 10 < 65
P 85 > 55
W 20 < 30
S 60 = 60
E 40 < 45
MC 0 < 1
ET 1 = 1
Once again there is no real contest here. The AU Krekk higher C and W (both of which were his lowest stats before) and E (admittedly not by much) the addition of a MC is also a bonus. The only real bad thing about AU krekk is that his ability can hurt you as well as your opponent. So all and all this is a nice evolution.

C 75 = 75
P 115 > 50
W 50 < 75
S 95 > 55
E 65 > 60
MC 2 = 2
ET 1 < 2
Lord van bloot scourge of the underworld one of my least favourite creatures. As we can see DOP bloot has superior P and S wheras TOTT Bloot has the edge in W and his elements. It looks to me like the ability is going to decide this one. Both of TOTT bloots abilities are to close to DOPs but unlike DOPs they have much longer lasting effects losing elements and not being able to get them back or dying sloyly every time you attack? Both of these are more dangerous then losing 10 replaceable energy. I have to say this is an evolution.

Next up: Nauthalax, Magmon and perhaps Nivenna.

UnderWorld Mutagen 2

Continuing

All cards will be refered to by their set designation (Eg. Rothar DOP, DOP Scan)

Also this time the score display is different
C(ourage)
P(ower)
W(isdom)
S(peed)
E(nergy)
M(ugic)C(ounters)
E(lemental) T(ypes)

Kamagareth

C 60 > 55
P 70 > 60
W 30 < 45
S 55 < 60
E 55 > 50
MC 0 < 1
ET 1 < 2
Card Art =

What's interesting about both Kamagareths is that their abilities could be very good if they were slightly changed. With the ZOTH one taking 15 damage is really bad when your in combat maybe 10 damage might have been more fair. Her FU form would work a lot better if she gave outperform courage 5 instead of power due to the fact that very few Danians are known for their high power (Wamma and Ketun spring to mind). However looking at disiplines her ZOTH scan has the edge in C, P and energy but FU Kam' has better W and speed a MC and 2 element types ( fire allowing her to work with UWers and earth allowing her to fight for the Danians). Taking all of this into account I'd call this an evolution.

Khybon

C (1)
P (3)
W (1)
S (3)
E (2)
MC (1/2)
ET (2/3)
Card Art (3)

The first multiple update review I get to do! Okay looking first at the abilities for these scans. DOP Khybon: Intimidate C and W 10 basic UnderWorld abilities at that time nothing special about them.
ROTO Khybon: N(on)B(rain)W(ashed) ability is good and easy to understand. Ditto with his B(rain)W(ashed) one
UA Khybon: I liked all of the counter abilities and this one is cool because you could wipe out both of the engaged creatures (could you tie by using this when he was fighting when you both have just one left?)

Anyway I have to say i think that UA Khybon wins this due to having higher Power, Speed, the fire element, really cool card art and funest ability.

Anyway that's all for today next time it's Kopond and Krekk.

UnderWorld Mutigen 1

As i said last post these next few posts will contain all of the underworld mutations (except chaor [Cause i did him] and hammerdoom [because madilblemuge already did that]). For creatures with only one mutation the scoring system looks like this > (Original card wins in chosen stat) = (Cards have same in chosen stat) < (New scan wins in chosen stat). They will also be rated devolution or evolution. For cards with more then one mutation (say 3) it will look like this: 1 (First card wins in chosen stat), 2 (second card wins in chosen stat), 3 (duh) or 1/2 (first and second cards tie). One of the cards (or more in case of a tie) will be considered the evolutionary apex. Got all of that?

Courage: =
Power: <
Wisdom: <
Speed: <
Energy: =
Mugic Ability: >
Elements: <
Ability: =
Art: <

Well General Barath is a great fighter without his ability and could be used very well in a loyal UW army. His ability howeer will sorta force you to make him the focus of your entire army if you plan on using it (due to thae fact you other creatures will be dying for you to fight better). His old form is better for any other army not focused on bareth beyond in my opinion but the higher stats and air element (plus the cool art) force me to call this an;
Evolution

Courage: >
Power: <
Wisdom: >
Speed: <
Energy: =
Mugic Ability: =
Elements: =
Ability:
Old v/s new normal: <
Old v/s new BW: >

as a side note this corruption was the cause of my vendetta against the M'arrillians. Looking at these two scans stats you can see that the are fairly close flip-floping between which ones are higher. Their MC's and elements (or lack thereof) are the same. His new scans normal ability is very nice better then his old one in my opinion (as it is free) however his new scans BW ability sucks as it costs so freaking much when it would be much easier to preform this action with my Fla'gamp/Biakan combo. In addition to me liking his old non-evil card art better i call this a Devolution.

Well that's two down 17 (or 18 if i do phelphor) to go!
